Step back into 1795 Vienna to Hear Beethoven’s Opus 1: Three Groundbreaking Trios Sunday, October 19 • 2:30 PM Shadyside Presbyterian Church Join us for a rare opportunity to hear all three of Beethoven’s Opus 1 Piano Trios—his first published works—performed on the instruments for which they were composed. These pieces marked Beethoven’s entry into Vienna’s musical world, showcasing his bold and unmistakable compositional voice. The program includes: Trio No. 1 in E-flat Major – A bright, confident, and vibrant work that showcases Beethoven’s spirited command of classical forms. Trio No. 2 in G Major – Light and witty with striking contrasts, from a lively opening movement to a solemn yet energetic second. Trio No. 3 in C minor – A dramatic, emotionally charged piece that stretches the boundaries of classical form with its intensity and intimacy. These trios will be performed by three of the world’s leading early music specialists: Alan Choo (violin), Jaap ter Linden (cello), and David Breitman (fortepiano). Step back into 1795 Vienna, with scores fresh from the press, and experience the first published music by the city's sensational young pianist-composer. Her incomparable diction, intelligent musicality and expressivity make her much-sought after for concert and recital work.
