  Students of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School Dear Dave, There is a moment at PBT School that our faculty never takes for granted — a student’s first pointe shoe fitting. She sits quietly while a teacher carefully checks her strength and alignment, then helps her try on that very first pair. The shoes are stiff, the ribbons still untied and there is a mix of nerves and pride in her expression. Across the room, parents watch closely. More often than not, there are tears. Not because it is the end of something, but because it represents how much has already been achieved. A pointe shoe is never just a shoe. It represents years of careful training, discipline, resilience and trust in the process. It reflects the patience to build strength slowly and the humility to accept correction. It is earned. Whether these students one day dance professionally, stand in a courtroom, work in an operating room or follow another path entirely, the skills they develop here will travel with them. T...
